Who needs a vignette?
Vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes generally need a valid vignette when using Austria’s motorways and expressways, including short transit journeys.
What is not included?
Some alpine tunnels and special toll sections are charged separately. The standard vignette does not replace these route-specific tolls.
Avoid common mistakes
Check the registration country, plate characters and start date carefully. Automatic cameras verify the plate entered during registration.

The standard vignette does not include every alpine route. Brenner A13 and selected tunnels or mountain sections may require an additional route toll.
Check activation first
Do not enter a motorway until the selected validity has started and registration has been confirmed. A payment receipt alone is not proof of an active vignette.
Rental and company vehicles
You can order for a rental or company vehicle, but the exact registration country and plate must match the vehicle used for the journey.

Heavy vehicles use a distance-based toll system and are not covered by the passenger vehicle vignette products shown on this page.

Questions travelers ask before ordering
When can I start using Austrian motorways?
Only after the vignette has been registered and its selected validity has begun. Wait for the confirmation email before entering a toll road.
Are the 1-day and 10-day products valid immediately?
They can start on the selected date, subject to successful registration. Always use the activation date shown in your confirmation.
Why can longer vignettes have a later activation date?
Consumer withdrawal rules can affect online purchases of longer digital products. The exact start date is shown before registration and should be checked carefully.
Does the vignette include the Brenner motorway and alpine tunnels?
Not all special toll sections are included. Some routes require a separate section toll in addition to the standard vignette.
What happens if one character in my plate is wrong?
The vignette may not match your vehicle and could be treated as invalid. Contact support immediately; corrections may be limited after registration.
Can I order for a rental car?
Yes. Enter the rental vehicle’s exact plate and registration country. Avoid ordering before the rental company confirms the assigned vehicle.
Do I need to print anything?
No windshield sticker is required for a digital vignette. Keep the confirmation email available on your phone for reference.
